About Red Run Farms

Our History

Jake is originally from Butler County and Kate from Somerset County. Together they and their two daughters moved to Mercer in 2019. They wanted land of their own and Jake wanted cows to raise, so the farm was born. Red Run Farms est. May 2019

Our Family

Fast forward to 2024, Jake and Kate have five kids now, three daughters and two sons. With them being so young yet, they enlist the help of others - family, and other people who have become family. You’ll often see Jake’s dad Jon driving a tractor in summer, whether it’s helping ted, rake or bale hay.  Friends like Silas and Seth who help work on equipment and stack those darn square bales in the hot summer sun, and you’ll see Kate toting drinks to and fro, and meeting customers at fields to even buy hay straight from the fields. We couldn’t do what we do without everybody‘s support!

Our Farming Practices

At Red Run Farms, we're committed to sustainable and responsible farming practices. We use natural fertilizers to ensure that our crops are healthy and free from harmful chemicals. Our animals are raised in spacious and clean environments, with plenty of access to fresh air and sunshine. Pasture grazed cattle and chickens you can see when visiting. We believe that by taking care of our land and animals, we can provide our customers with the highest quality products.

Our Community

At Red Run Farms, we're proud to be a part of the local community. We work closely with other farmers and producers to promote local agriculture and support small businesses. We offer educational info and workshops for schools and community groups to teach people about the importance of farming and sustainable agriculture. We also donate to local organizations that support our community throughout the year. Jake and Kate are both very involved with their local fire department. Jake is a Lieutenant with Jackson Center Volunteer Fire Co. and spends countless hours furthering his training under his superior Officers. Kate can be seen lending a helping hand whenever she can, even with kiddos strapped to her back.

Our Products

On the farm, we offer a wide variety of fresh and delicious products, including seasonal fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised beef, free-range chicken eggs, and raw honey from a neighboring farm. All of our products are grown or raised with the utmost care, so you can be sure that you're getting the freshest and most flavorful products available. We also offer fresh made jams and jellies that Kate takes pride in producing for the public!
